Now and then warriors tell a story of an experience far, far from home. I’ve listened to warriors describe their memory of “mama’s BBQ chicken” or “the smell of dad grilling steaks” or the feeling of “cooking hot dogs on the beach with the family” while they were somewhere… I have heard stories about “a time around a fire” where food was shared but not a word of English was spoken… What always moved me was the stories of a meal – bringing people together and sharing an experience. Cooking together has purpose and the smells, tastes and textures wrap us in a common experience.

A warrior encouraged me to share my rubs, recipes and my love of bringing people together over a meal. My inspiration are the bravest, smartest, most amazing men and women I have ever met.
